This has been a fascinating conversation about scale as it relates to paint. As a relative newcomer these are subtle details which would be overlooked by most novices I think. Very insightful! Russ

Really enjoying your added details. It all looks great to my eye, and it inspires me to follow your lead and add a few extras of my own. Looking forward to seeing the next deck. Russ

To follow up on the amazing work seen here by Ronald I am curious about your painting technique. I have been spending time looking back through your posts and may have overlooked something but do you paint entirely by hand or do you use an airbrush or a combination of both. Curious because as a newcomer I have no airbrushing skills so brush painting it is. I guess my question is do you achieve these incredible results using a brush only. Apologies if this has been asked before. Russ

Hi, you kindly provided a diagram of the main mast channels for me from the book- HMS Victory, her construction, career and restoration by Alan McGowan. Would you be able to provide a diagram of how the chain plate configuration looks. The plate positions on video 20 don’t look very elegant but may be correct Any help would be great. Hope your build is going well. Russ

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
