  1. Thank you. I am not sure about this solid hull so far. Wouldn't take much to go to far with no return.
  2. Ok I think I am ready to dive in. I have read the manual and had a good look at the plans. Templates cut wood strips and blocks sorted and labelled. I also made a kind of template for the station lines on a piece of masking tape. Simplifies the marks instead of all of the lines on the plans. Next step is to make a block to attach to the deck so I can put it in a vice. Which I just ordered from Amazon. Then start marking station lines, rabbet line and waterline.
  3. Templates cut now to mark the waterline, centerline, rabbet, rail line and the knuckle. Then sanding to fit.
  4. Pretty close to having the hull totally complete. Working on all the little things like belaying pins and cleats. So small.
  5. These belaying pins and all the small pieces are making me crossed eyed. Still getting stuff done though. In between installing little pieces, I am sanding and beveling the main and fore masts.
  6. Started painting the hull. Had a little trouble figuring out the water line. Turned out all right.
  7. Started painting the deck and deck parts. Thought I would start there before attempting the hull. Still trying to figure out how to properly mark the waterline.
  8. Glued and fitted the bulkheads. Unfortunately I didn't tack them in place. My first mistake of many more to come. So I had a bunch of warping. Made spacers and with a little steam and heat I fixed it up. Lesson learned the hard way.
  9. Hi, I am new to building wooden ships. This is my first build. I was gifted this kit. I know it's quite advanced for a newbie but I am diving in. Unboxing and I am already overwhelmed. I am also new to the site. I started building back in January 2025. I have made a lot of mistakes but learning every time I work on it. I have completed the planking, the deck planking and have built most of the deck parts.
  10. Received a new haul today. Got some really awesome ships. If anyone needs me I will be building ships. 20251115_174209.thumb.jpg.aee38200c23f84b32ebf78c35fd15654.jpg

  11. Finally getting the hang of building these small deck pieces. This chain box actually fits the drawing and is nice and square. Nice to see improvement in my work. 20251115_010640.thumb.jpg.955d965a2fe51497d3b742088174159d.jpg
