Setting the yard and sail. As Clare mentioned in his blog, the setting of the sail "billow" is a challenge. Bob R.

Thanks Clare. I had every intention of driving down to Mystic on Friday specifically to attend Douglas' talk. However, I could not justify the cost. I wish they would allow a breakdown in cost of the speakers. Anyway, still plugging along. I relashed the mast and have started on the spar. Bob R.

Been a while since I updated. Moving along steadily. Yesterday the mast was lashed on and decorative copper plates were added. Tried to have it all done by the NRG conference but failed. Was unable to attend the conference anyway. Bob R.

Thanks Clare. I will play around with a few different glues. I used CA Zap a Gap on the few copper pieces I installed. Currently planning on using the provided sail. Bob R.

Working on the mast and additional hull details. The mast is comprised of over a dozen parts and is a nice little kit in itself. I finally got to install some of the copper etching also. Clare, what kind of glue did you use to install the copper pieces? Bob R.

Finished planking the bow section. Have a few coats of Minwax to apply then on to the masting and rigging. Added the obligatory messy shop photo. Waiting for a rainy day to clean the shop. I checked out your build log Skip. Looking great. Hope you can also add a build log to MSW. Bob R.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
