  1. All, Sorry I have been out of touch. We have recently moved from San Diego to Norfolk, Ma. The move was unexpected and done quickly (family issues back east). Anyway, my stuff just arrived Friday and I have to set up my new shop. I will be back to building by the new year. Also looking to join the Constitution Guild as well as anything in the Providence area. I hope WackoWolf can guide me to a good group. Bob R.
  2. Completed rigging the rudder into place. So far so good. Really enjoying this kit. Bob R.
  3. Interior work continues. I love the sliding doors on the front of the cabin. Bob R.
  4. Thanks all. Chuck, the rope is from the kit. Like everything else in the kit, it is top quality. Bob R.
  5. Thanks David. I agree, very rarely seen. Did a little rope work this morning. Bob R.
  6. Started adding some deck furnishings and decorative scroll work. Bob R.
  7. Thanks Clare. Good call on the Sake. Stuck on Jury Duty this week so I will have to wait on the weekend for that. Bob R.
  8. Additional pictures with completed sheaves. Added a coat of MINWAX wipe-on Poly. Bob R.
  9. Started work on internal bulkheads and ladders. Also a couple of really nice sheaves. They were pretty fun to put together. Bob R.
  10. I agree Clare. It did seem never ending. Each piece of planking met my Byrnes Sander to ensure a nice fit. Bob R.
  11. I saw that Joe. It was also in the Nautical Research Journal. Great write up from Clare Hess. Bob R.
  12. Planking the bow section. Cut a template from the provided drawings to plank this section. Should finish planking the main deck this weekend. Bob R.
  13. All, Sorry for the disappearing act. I am back at it now and will post a few pics this evening. Bob R.
  14. Back from Japan and ready to hit it hard and heavy. Unable to get additional Woody Joe kits on this trip but will be getting some soon. Bob R.
  15. Off to Japan for a couple of weeks. Be back on the 26th of July. Hope to bring a few more Woody Joe kits home. Bob R.
  16. Thanks all. Chuck, Not much information on the wide, wide world of web about these boats. I will try to get some details on my upcoming Japan trip. I do know that with the exception of the bottom of the hull being painted black, these boats were pretty much natural wood. I will be using just some wipe-on poly. Bob R.
  17. No problem Joe. Nils, you are correct. It is a very well manufactured kit and it is going together surpisingly well. Bob R.
  18. Continue to work on decking. I wish I could tell you exactly the parts I am working on, but again, the instructions are all in Japanese. Bob R.
