No tutorial, just looking at the build logs posted by others on this site. The best way to learn any skill is to dive in and have a go. If things don't go as expected don't think of it as a mistake, it's just part of the learning curve and part of the fun and enjoyment of the hobby. I've yet to find a problem with my Victory that couldn't be put right - including having to remove half of the deck planking on the first attempt when I got the shift pattern wrong!

      Cheers,

      Graham

      Hello Graham

Thank you for your replay :)

i have start to work on the ship and i have a little issue with bulkhead 13

if im understanding the plans , the middle gun deck need to be perfectly straight 145 mm high from the keelson (including the keelson) the problem with bulkhead 13 that is flash with the keelson line like he need to be in the plans ... but the deck line is 1 mm above the 145mm line of the middle gun deck... so im not sure if the problem is in the bulkhead 13 and i need to sand 1 mm from the slot and also from under the bulkhead , or the problem is in the plans .. and from bulkhead 13 the middle gun deck need to start going up .. do you had de same problem?

      Hi Michael,

I'm not sure if I can full answer your question - this is only my second build and I regard myself as still a bit of a novice.  I did do a 'dry run' with all my bulkheads and that was when I found that one of the bulkheads had been incorrectly machined with the deck supports on one side well above the other.  It was obvious which was the wrong side so I made a new bulkhead using the correct side as a template.  One thought, and I hope I'm not teaching you to 'suck eggs',  but have you squared off the tops and bottoms of the slots in the in the bulkheads and keelson? I seem to recall that they are slightly radiused in the corners and this would prevent the bulkheads sitting in their correct position.

Your questions are just the sort of thing to put into your build log, which I see you have started - you will get plenty of replies and advice.

I hope this helps, and I will be following you build with interest.

Going back to our previous discussion about filling in the spaces between bow and stern bulkheads with balsa wood, check out Ed T's build in the Scratch build section that he posted the other day - it might help, although you wouldn't need to to fill in the spaces for the whole ship as he had to.

      Cheers,

      Graham.
