Starting my first log!  This is my second POH ship and was looking to start afresh in my ship modeling seeing as my last model didn't survive my most recent move and I need a nifty new mantle decoration. Adventure is a "pirate" schooner kit offered by Amati.  The last ship I completed was also an Amati in 2014 and I now recall frustrations from the vague details in the instructions provided. I rushed through that model, had plenty of very, very visible mistakes and only admired the finished product as it was my first.

Luckily I found another build log here for Adventure that has been helpful, and I figured I'd document my current build here also to further the available info for future "Adventure-rs".

I'm on break from school for the next few weeks so I really hope to get a lot done with the build.  I've already completed some of the first steps (deck planking, first hull planking), I'll be posting pictures soon!

Thanks!

Here are a few photos from the slow progress so far.  Made a few mistakes in starting the planking on one side and the rest of it has been a pain to make fit the frames.  By this point I'm just focusing on getting them on as best I can and doing a lot of cutting and sanding afterwards before putting the second layers on.

The deck planking is looking good!

You might want to bevel the bulkheads more and work on the bow filler block before adding more planks. There are some good resources for planking on this forum, I'll link you one that helped me.

Thanks for the advice and link!  Planking is so finicky, I wish I did more research before diving in.

It's coming along - Duncbe's tip and link is good advice. I'm new at building a wooden kit and I will be trying my hand at planking a hull with my next project.  I picked up 'Planking the Built-Up Ship Model' technical guide book by Jim Roberts put out by Model Shipways. Someone suggested it to me to read and it has some valuable information along with photos and diagrams. Besides all of that, I'm following along with your project. More rum and another plank!
