i just found your log , great work , i love the sturdy look to that time period , it,s like the the frames are on the outside !!!!!

its time to work on the sails, the kit provides some sails but it still needs to be sewn a bit to complete them.

the sails must be separated and ironed, I also use spray starch. it helps keep the material from bunching up especially when sewing curves in the lower parts of the sails.

sewing is not my forte, so this is my least favorite part of the build.

all the sails have been sewn

there is some rope around the sail in the instruction plans, so it will take a few days to hand sew this in.

Ill use the rope provided in the kit, and some natural color thread to secure it to the sails.

so before I started this build I already decided that it would have billowing sails for the final construction.   I also decided to have the sails billowing towards the starboard side as opposed to just forward or furled.   Depending on the type of material it is necessary to either use starch or use wire inserted in the ends and bottoms.   I chose to starch the because it held up really well.   I have inserted wire in the past for thinner sail cloth material.
