I would like to use dolphin pedestals, but the ones I've seen are expensive. I haven't seen creative commercial pedestals for model ships. They are mostly the standard brass or wooden ones, and to me they don't do much for showing off the ships. So I'm still looking. I'm trying to get a nice piece of natural Mesquite from a lumber mill close by. He keeps telling me he has what I need in his kiln, however, it never seems to be dried yet. Don't think I'm going to get it before I leave though. So this will be next year's project. I still have a little bit of touch up to do to it....like maybe an hours worth of time, but I keep putting it off. Will probably get to it when, during or around the same time I mount it to something.
