AL Harvey versions?

A few decades ago I had the AL Harvey and never finished it.  When looking for one now I see a couple different versions of the box artwork.  Anyone know if there is a difference in the parts/quality/construction/etc between those models?

I saw your post on FB and was hoping that you would ask your question here, as I think you are more likely to get a response. I'm not intimately acquainted with AL's product line, but I'm not aware of any updates or modifications having been done with this kit. It does date back a ways. Probably the only difference between the two kits in the above photos is the box art. Newer AL kits do, I believe, include photo-illustrated instructions, so it's possible that Harvey has been updated in that respect.

Thanks!  After looking at the pictures many times I think I have memories of the one on the right, so I will probably try to get that one.  It should be far easier now with the internet but I also have higher standards for my work now...

Some of AL's kits during the 1980's used pine for the first layer of hull planking instead of bass or limewood. The pine was real difficult for me to work with and far less willing to bend than the normal stuff. Lots of breaking even with soaking and heat. The box art on the right of your picture is typical of the timeframe when pine was used.
