I am finally getting to starting the "La Flore" as a "lock-down" project.  It's my first build, so the "HMS Surprise" conversion is going to have to wait for a while!

I have the eight page, 16 step instructions that come in the box, however, I am following a build video on YouTube, & the guy in that has a larger instruction booklet, which includes what appear to be full rigging diagrams.

A quick Google search has failed to find this - does anybody know if it is available for download anywhere?

Thanks!

during her stay in the Royal Navy as HMS Flora.

Hello Bernie and welcome to MSW. It is a great place.

I am curious. The Lindberg Jolly Roger was the English HMS Flora? Which one, and what do we know about accuracy?

No, it doesn't - it only has 16 steps for the entire build, & the only guidance for rigging is a side plan showing the fully rigged vessel.

Could you possibly post the other rigging pages as well for me - it would be much appreciated!!

I'm a little confused between "La Flore" & "Vestale" however there appears to be general agreement that she was captured by the Royal Navy, used for a while, then captured by the Americans before being handed back to the French.

Although the general arrangement appears to be accurate, I have read speculation that the model was based on a ship that was never actually built.

There are a number of paintings showing her in Royal Navy service (including with a copper bottom), so my build will be based on that.

Perhaps post #16 here will help.

If Jolly roger isn't based on a real original then you have a free hand.

you have a free hand......no real proof that the Jolly Rogers existed.  the term Jolly Roger was the name for the flag that they flew.......it was also a mystical ship found only in Disney movies.  you could easily do her as the Flora....as a matter of fact,  I may have some info on her.  at one time,  I had all three kits.......the Jolly Rogers,  the Flying Dutchman {glo in the dark version},  and the Henry Morgan...this kit could be bashed into the Wappen Von Hamburg.

see if you can open this.......shoot!   can't do that :(   I'll PM you ;)

I'd be happy to post the rest of the rigging....starting with this one.

here are steps 42 and 43 in case you need them.........

scan0013.thumb.jpg.b1bf5b642a4dc8b9afd1cb39e1392c65.jpg

really not a difficult kit,  if you have knowledge of how these ships are rigged.  as I recall,  there were a couple of problems with this kit........the decks have a problem lining up and the absence of hawse holes for the anchor.  I just drilled a couple of holes at the bow and called it good.

what I ended up with was this........  now,  I didn't use those silly rings.......I used blocks that I had saved from a 1:96 ship kit

I though I had a picture of the complete ship.......the one in the background is the Flying Dutchman

Cool!I intend to float it abd put a lot of ballast in the firm of lead **** in the hull but the weight of the masts and rigging must have been too great (floated just fine before the masts, sails  and rigging were installed.Pkus the gun ports were not sealed properly.

he must have an older kit,  if he doesn't have any of this info.......the kit has been reissued a couple of times.  heck......I likely have some other info on the ship.......I'll look through my stuff.

Thank you Popeye, that will make life a lot easier & remove much of the guess work!  👍

There is no date on the instructions, however the copyright date on the box is 1990.  Looking at the amount of flash, I'm guessing that the moulds were pretty old by the time that my example was produced.

could be......the revision date on mine was 2009.   I did a log on the model....feel free to use it if you see anything useful :)
