piperck Posted April 1, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2022 Hello, In need of some assistance. Current build is Toulonnaise, old model that I started a year ago. I’m stumped on foretopmast shrouds. Instructions state “from foretopmast though crosstree behind ratline to block…” On drawing there is a part that seems to come out of mainmast that shroud passes through, and lay of the rigging is diverted in drawing. I do not know what this is, as it has no part number or explanation. I have included photos. What is that illustration indicating, and what is that thing I have circled? Appreciate any help on this. Jaager Posted April 1, 2022 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2022 My guess is that the dark horizontal line is a wooden batten. A spreader lashed to the shrouds instead of a foot rope. Don't get daunted by the quality of his work, but take it as inspirational and benefit from his research. If you work backward through the postings, you will come to point (not that long ago), where he discusses the feature you are talking about. I have to check, I may have some images of the model of LA TOULONNAISE in the Musée de la Marine in Paris. If I am not mistaken the kit is based on a set of plans published by the 'Friends of the Museum': https://boutique.aamm.fr/monographies/plan-toulonnaise. The model and the plans in turn are based on a set of drawings published by Admiral Pâris in his 'Souvenirs de la Marine'.
