But it's probably like today: only lawyers speak in the language of legal acts, and even then in more formal circumstances. When Eugen (@greenstone) showed these wonderful Dimensions of Ships on the forum and at the same time pointed out the source of this document (the library), all to be done was to follow up and look through all the digitised documents of the period there... I am sure this will allow us to get a full understanding of all the issues. There is a lot of information about the Royal Navy in the archives of Russia. Many documents have not been scanned and thousands of pages with useful information for us have not even been read by anyone over the past few centuries. Martes Posted February 6, 2023 Share #15 Posted February 6, 2023 (edited) Browsing the same folder, I saw two very interesting documents relating to Sweden (naval articles and a general report on the country) and a book on French naval signals (all for 1690s), but they are written in more elaborate and dense font and are slightly more difficult to read.
