MARSEILLE by Mihai - FINISHED - Mamoli - 1:64

Hi all,  

 

Welcome to my build log, i hope you'll enjoy it and i wait for all your opinions (good and bad)  .

The Marseille is a single deck, 2 masts, double planked, 26 guns  french training ship.This is my second kit from Mamoli and probably the last. My first ship was Halifax and i'll probably make a topic about it although most of the pictures were on this site only, but fortunately i kept all my pictures from Marseille, so let's get started

I didn't have too much trouble to align the frames to the keel, the deck was a bit fiddly, but i managed it and i also started work on the first layer of planking

I skipped a few steps and jumped to showing you the finished second planking(couldn't find the pictures between the stages  ). I also painted the hull according to the plans

I finished all the deck fittings, but as you will see not all the parts provided by Mamoli worked as it should - the stern ornament is a bit smaller than normal... In order to protect the white paint on the hull from dust and any chance to put smudges on it i dressed it in adhesive paper

I made the masts, yards and booms, painted black the ropes around the blocks and mounted the masts

Hello Carl,

I'm glad to be back and i'm very happy to see that you keep on following my build. This morning i found out that all the galleries were lost and i started to sort my pictures in order to revive the log. I hope you posted your Dolphin also, i didn't had the chance yet to look for it and if you did i will follow it with pleasure

I finally finished the ratlines and most of the fixed maneuver and with it my post is up to date

You've been working on the standing rigging. It truely looks very, very good. The change from glossy to mat black on your mast was a vast improvement to. You should have shown some pictures to help future builds.

Thank you Carl, i also like the mat better than the glossy finish.Unfortunately i don't have those pictures any more, i took those pictures with my phone cause i broke the camera at the time and i copied them to the site only.So those pictures and most of my Halifax pictures are gone forever...

I had some free time and i made some progress on my ship - finally finished the standing rigging .  Sorry for the quality of the pics, but again i had to use the phone...until i'll get my hands on the camera, these will do

You have been doing some wonderful work on the rigging. I LIKE it!!! Hope you get your camera soon, so you can make some better pictures. Though I'm glad you made these to show us your work.

That's some lovely rigging you've done. With these pictures it looks much, much better. The pictures from you mobile gave a good impression though
