shihawk Posted November 11, 2013 Author Share #31 Posted November 11, 2013 I can see a case for the vanity argument ,but leaving painting ability aside,why spend hours and hours planking to the best of your ability to then smooth with fillers and cover with paint .If that is the desired effect then plastic hulls would be sufficient .99% of ship models built are probably only seen by the builder and his family,so it maybe a personal vanity but could you also call that pride in your work .lets face ill never build museum pieces but i would like to think that i will eventually build something i can be proud of even if no one else sees it .I know all ships were painted for various reasons and if you wish to be truely authentic all models should be painted ,but i just prefer the look of unpainted wood .I have seen countless painted models on MSW and they are truly amazing .
