To the left of the triple-expansion engine is a period boiler.   The original ship was built of yellow pine.  I was trying to "model" that feel (and scale) by using boxwood finished with Watco Danish Oil

Your model of the Okesa is truly phenomenal!  I am very interested in the steel "lakers" and am building two scratch-built ships of fiberglass and plastic. I am very pleased with the results so far but now comes the rigging. My ships are to 1:96 scale so are 33" long.  They are the West Planter and Munami.  The cargo handling rigging would be almost identical to your incredible model of Okesa.  I will follow your workshop guide as best I can.
