Then a red dope colour where there's fabric and RM02 grey/green where there is metal. Only roughly done as it's going to get it's proper colours over all of it. Should make a great effect when I apply the wearing/weathering -

Sad news indeed, I contacted him via MSW a couple of years ago , he did an amazing picture of HMS Calipso in the English channel in ww1 for me celebrating my great uncles ship.. A copy of which a lot of my family have on their walls ..a very nice man

A little bit daunting when first reading the instructions for fitting the bow deck fittings, some very small drilling required!
-
Good luck with the build..still amazed no one has come up with a kit!

It's been awhile life and work just gets in the way. Making slow progress..just a few shots of where I'm at now. The main turrets are just placed there, lots of work are still needed on them..
-
Thanks Keith, there is nothing on there yet, so fingers crossed for the future

Thanks Keith 😁 I was so surprised about such an obvious gap in the market, the American market for such a kit must be large excluding the rest of the world..they are so distinctive that it would stand out in my world of sail..

I'm looking for a quality US civil war iron side wooden ship kit...any suggestions as I was surprised there is nothing around that jumps out at me?

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
