Of course it is planked. Mine also. I am almost done with the planking. Not perfect, but after sanding and stain, should look good. How are you proceeding with the piece's under stem/stern? Like an extension? I am really having fun with the planking. It is cold here in Seattle but have plent of WRONG planks to use as kindling. Oh, when sanding hull, just a small sanding block? Should I fabricate a curved block? I am not going to try nails. I am thinking my next build I will... Thanks, Steve

Chuck, Thanks to you and Kurt, I am getting the hang of it. I even had enough bad planks to use as kindling in the fireplace. (it is cold here in Seattle). But, I am taking one plank at a time and seeing great results. Thanks again guys!

Thanks Kurt. The bevel on the top of the plank, is there a rule as far as degree, or just eyeball it to fit?

Great help.. I used so much lumber, I need to get some more! But I can see improvement just by the templates I am making. This is going to take a while, but its fun learning to do it right, Plus is might make my next kit a bit easier.. (I hope)!!! I picked up a french curve set tonite too. Thanks again Chuck, your help is much appreciated!

Looks great Chuck.. Your planks real good. In fact, I just removed some to start over. My first strake under wale looks fine, but need to redo 2-3 Yours look a bit wider than mine. Did you go with the laser markings? I was also reading an article where the writer says he does not curve the bottom of the plank, just the top. does that even make sense?

Chuck, no kidding! I have a growing pile of planks that were a micron off!. It is a learned skill for sure. If there are some slight stepping on the plank, its ok to sand even? How much sanding is involved with the hull? Sand until all even?

Great stuff! I have been essentially doing a similar thing.. It took me 3 days to figure the curves, using a template, cutting it etc. I have wasted a bunch of wood, but I am getting there.. I know that there will be a lot of sanding to do!

Thanks Chuck. I am starting to work on the ceiling planking. I wonder why there is not a rabbit or similar for the ends to insert into. The ends just end? it seems like it is a weak point.

Looks Great Chuck. I think I will start on the ceiling planking, and figure the spiling on the hull later. I was working on the hull today but was too distracted watching the Seahawk game. Any tips on spiling the hull planks will be appreciated!!
