I was snooping around the Goodwill store today and found a big plastic canister of those plastic clamps that are like the ones in Chuck's picture for a $1.50! Like 40 of them.. All never used. Score!

Perfect. The first wale is soaking now to fit it. I was wondering if you sanded the first planks above the wale before installing the wale? It seems it would be easier to even out the strakes before attaching the wales, since the thickness is different. (to prevent accidentally sanding the wale)

I planked the walls just as Chuck did. I attached 29a and 29 to the walls. Should be ok. If I have any issues, I will just remove them.. Sound ok? Also, after I stain the floors and walls, should I hit it with clear poly? semi gloss

I better shadow what you are doing more! I caught myself yesterday thinking about the cockpit planking while I was at a recording session actually performing. I had to share and everyone had a good laugh! Actually a few of the musicians are very intrigued about my Philly project..

Just finished installing the forward cockpit flooring (detail 2-5 on plans). Seemed pretty routine but it took a while as football and the weather here in Seattle is great. I will finish the aft flooring then stain it all at the same time. Again pretty routine.

Ok, I like the pencil idea. Now, where on the planks do we add the marks? Spacing wise?

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
