  1. Shipyards has you drill out the deadeyes to make bullseyes. They tend to disintegrate when drilling them out. I found it was easier to drill out the center of a dowel and cut it to the width you need.
  2. Trying to figure out the rigging. Gonna do a little piece at a time. Started the deadeyes and some bowsprit rigging.
  3. Thanks Patrick for the comment and my other likes. Got the channels and davits completed on the sides. Finished up the bowsprit as well.
  4. Happy Holiday's and New Year to everyone. Finally able to put some more work in. Got all the yards put together over the last few days.
  5. I have been working on the masts. Finished constructing the fore and main masts. just need to through some paint on them now.
  6. Anchors pretty much done. Used some weather-it on the wood from my model railroading days. Also added some brass strips around the wood. If you have not seen it this Solder-it is awesome. A mixture of flux and solder and melts at 420 degrees. Makes brass work easy.
  7. Patrick, I don't think I will permanently mount them for a while. I have already knocked down the smoke stack on the deck 3 times. The anchors will definitely cause an issue. Thanks for the likes.
  8. Installed the pin rails and aft bits. Following the instruction manual and looks like anchors are next.
  9. Getting closer to rigging. Everything but the fife rails are now permanently mounted to the deck. Will mount those when I set the masts.
  10. Thanks for the props Brian and all the likes. Working on the hammock stanchions. Started with 18 gauge copper wire, hammered it flat, measured to the appropriate length, bent it to the appropriate 90's and blackened. CA'd the stanchions to the main rail. Also finished the bell and Sampson post.
  11. Added in the missing quoins at the guns. Cut square stock at an angle then added a cut off belaying pin.
  12. Finally back on the Niagara. Was busy setting up a new saltwater aquarium. Need to wait a couple weeks to stock it.. Finished the pair of long guns for the front of the boat. Also replaced the Model Shipways grates (just didn't like them) with some from modeler's central.(Amati)
  13. Continue to move along on a few different things. Installed the main rail which made a huge difference in the appearance. Hung the capstan bars at the rear. installed the bowsprit and hawse pipe details. Finishing up the 3 life boats.
  14. Looks great Tom. I enjoy following your posts. I just bought the constitution from ME so that will be my next one.
  15. Working on the capstan today. Found a good picture of the original. Do you think the star on top is new?
