For those interested, look at some of Hahn's work and most of Frolich's works.  (Frolich's work here: http://modelisme.arsenal.free.fr/artdumodelisme/indexgb.html)  They do the "paint with wood" masterfully and I wish I had those skills.. maybe someday.   What they will do, if the plank changes color due to paint, they carefully fit wood in of the the color needed.  Usually ebony and either boxwood or pear, depending on who's work you're looking at.  I'm just in awe of that kind of work.  Frolich even does it on masts.

Yes, it is the newest Friesland. I was hoping you would have some problems in finding her.
(There is almost no reference of her under the HrMs abbreviation, and she only in service since early this year.)

Easy mistake to make Nigel, but the Arklow Warrior had 15 X 20'' guns in 3 turrets (must be where the Iowa class boys got the idea for more than 2 guns per turret from.. true story )

Cheers mate! The one against the back looks like a triton. The one behind the head im not sure of yet. Looks like it could be two lying tritons or mermaids but hard to tell. They are not included in the kit and I haven't decided about what to do about that.

    Gentlemen,

I did a little bit of shopping: I flipped the picture.
It is indeed Gelderland (I posted her before in her new appearances.) She was a Dutch ship, build around the turn of the precvious century (HOlland Clas Cruiser, laid down in 1898), the Germans took her over and did a rebuild into a Flak ship (Niobe) aroudn 1943.
Her largest feat was the fact that she took Paul Kruger from South Afrika to Europe after the BoerWar.

The picture is taken in her period in life that she was fitted for being a target ship in 1941 (already in German service)

Lawrence, I love snow, but at the same time I save a lot of money now as I dont have to use any wood to warm it.

The galjon lion is finished except the Vasa heraldic shield its going to hold. The original figure are only done in two halves. The sides themselves are not bad and no doubt better then anything I could carve but it leaves just the wood between them and have no face and topside head. I decided to make the face and head out of putty.

I think it's too early spyglass.I thought they were some attachment for people to climb up to get out of the water, hence the Dunkirk,Gallipoli theory.

I've got one of their table saws and a little wood lathe - both of which are invaluable! use 'em daily. I to am debating their micro moulder, ought to be useful for making cases, I reckon. Let us know how you get on with it if you buy one.

You may have answered your own question Jan  (they are Jason Class,  MSW member Beef Wellington, who was playing earlier his name is 'Jason' and the answer to his last 2 ship questions were all  'Jason' !)

I do believe you have the ships name with your last post 'Wolves'... her name of course is HMS Wolverine

    Over to you Jan..

Cinema time for me so I must absent myself for a while.. best of luck guys!

Should have added a bit more info - the Alarm-class torpedo gunboat was the penultimate class of torpedo gunboat built for the Royal Navy. The class was contemporary with the early torpedo boat destroyers, which were faster and better suited to accompanying the battlefleet. By World War I the class had either been sold, converted to submarine depot ships or minesweepers, or reduced to harbour service. Three of the class were lost during World War I while serving in the minesweeping role, including HMS Jason.

    Next guess:  Arklow Castle?
