It's been some time since I added to my log. As you know, other hobbies, travel, etc get in the way. However, I have managed to rig foot ropes and stirrups to the jibboom, boom and the spread yard. I've also rigged halyards, downhauls and sheets to the fore staysail, inner jib and outer jib together with the appropriate blocks. I have also rigged brace and lift pendants to the yards which are almost ready to rig on the model.

All of these are very difficult to photograph so I've included some poor photos of two guns that I have almost rigged. I have decided to rig the starboard side with guns seized up for sailing and those on the starboard side ready for firing or just fired.

    Welcome to MSW.

As Wayne pointed out, there's some good info..

I'll also add the "short" version:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Constellation_(1854)

Welcome, kind sir!  As you note, the Constellation in Baltimore is a mid-19th century replacement of the original.  You may want to look into a couple of rather detailed volumes out there that discuss her history - may I suggest the following for a starting point for your research?

Chapelle, H. I., and L. D. Polland, 1970: The Constellation Question. Smithsonian Institution Press, Washington.

Ferguson, E. S., 1956: Truxtun of the Constellation; the life of Commodore Thomas Truxtun, U.S. Navy, 1755-1822. Johns Hopkins Press, Baltimore, 322 p. pp. http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/000334060(Accessed September 14, 2014).

Toll, I. W., 2006: Six Frigates: The Epic History of the Founding of the U.S. Navy. 1ST edition. W. W. Norton, New York, 560 pp.  ISBN 9780393058475

So I did a little more work on the main deck.  I was trying to decide whether to put the trunnels in or not.  According to the research all the planking is 9" wide.  That puts it at about 1/8" wide at my 1:85 scale.  The actual planks supplied are about 0.2".  I decided to go with the supplied width and make the planks 24' (2 3/8") long I then added some detail with the trunnels.  Naturally putting them in a plank 1/8" wide did not seem practical.  I don't think I will do them on the hull planks because the walnut planks (2nd layer) are very dark and they would not show up that well... just not worth the effort in this case.  Below is the finished deck. I did the holes with a pin drill (#77 drill) and touched them up with a "T" pin then smeared in some darker wood putty.  Stained and put on a coat of satin urethane.  I am sure many of the trunnels will be covered by the "deck clutter" but I like the way they break up the plain look of the deck itself.  Will start to work on the cat rails next.  This will give me time to ponder the cannon and hull planking situations that are coming soon.
