Hi Danny, Two things of note after I tell you what an unbelievable build, in minute detail AND tutorial help for the rest of us. I look forward to your next enterprise. Firstly, I told you some time ago that your skills were second to none... You suggested I look at Rehmco"s and Toni"s builds. I didn't until a week ago, because I didn't believe it possible. Without taking ANYTHING away from yours...Mother of God! They are also exquisite. Secondly, maybe now the rest of us who have been putting it off, can start / resume our builds, using the three (and more) "How to.." manuals you guys have provided. My congratulations to you. With regards and respect, Russell

Hi Danny, I echo the above. Fantastic work. Did the Photo Etched lantern prove to be inaccurate or did you scratch it just because you could Regards Russell

Hi Danny, Brilliant piece of craftsmanship. What am I going to do tomorrow morning now that this is finished? Regards, Russell

Hi Danny, You may have been quiet for the last week, but boy, have you been busy!!! Incredible detail as usual but you have to be kidding me...1 mm inside diameter on the ring... Regards, Russell

Good morning Dan, I really am looking forward to this. As you know I think your work is stunning and there is no reason to think this will not be yet another masterpiece. Regards, Russell

Hi Dan, I hope you missed the weather of the last couple of days. I echo the others comments. Your work is extraordinary, so realistic and your photographic skills are incredible. It's like your are photographing the actual ship. Regards, Russell

Hi Dan, I wasn't going to rig but your treatise shows how beautifully integral rigging is to a completed model. Your work is beyond extraordinary. Where do you get your "rope". Regards, Russell

Hi Danny, Your usual quality attention to minute detail is astounding, as is the foresight and sharing of potential pitfalls to all who follow your masterpiece. Most of the rest of us would have made four or five failed attempts at the grating battens, breaking each one!!! Morticing BEFORE cutting !! Brilliant. Thanks Danny. Keep it up. Regards, Russell

Dan, You told me there were others that were better !! I am really starting to doubt that. Yes they are great but your attention to such detail is without peer. An absolute inspiration. My first DUTY of the day is to follow your build. With much respect, Russell

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
