Hi there I'm watching your build with interest because I have this kit. It has four large sheets of plans and a small booklet with instructions and a separate parts list with wood size and lengths to use. It's still a bit confusing browsing through it all, very vague to tell the truth. The mast and spars wood are all pre cut to length in the kit but I do not see a detailed plans sheet for the mast dimensions and rigging in my kit. I don't know if I'm missing some more plans or if this is all that's provided. There is some material to use for making sails but no plans provided to plot out the shapes for the sails. I think this kit is terribly lacking in instructions to begin with. Hope to see your progress.

I have not posted here since I completed my Ragusian Carrack build but have been steady at it building many other ships. I started and finished the artesian Latina swift, Le Renard, Le Hussard, the Harvey, all sold so I can purchase some kits for my personal collection. I never got got to complete the Friesland ship because I sold it just as soon as I was finished with the hull, I still regret selling it so I have currently started another Friesland build and have completed all the wood work including the mast and yards. It is put away until winter time to completely rig and finish. I used some different wood tones out of necessity due to the poor condition of the planking wood in the kit, I will also change some of the colors used on the previous build when it comes time to paint the gingerbread castings. I'll upload some better pics in a day or so.

so before I started this build I already decided that it would have billowing sails for the final construction. I also decided to have the sails billowing towards the starboard side as opposed to just forward or furled. Depending on the type of material it is necessary to either use starch or use wire inserted in the ends and bottoms. I chose to starch the because it held up really well. I have inserted wire in the past for thinner sail cloth material.
