donrobinson got a reaction from cobra1951 in Greek Bireme by Robin Lous - FINISHED - Dusek - Scale 1:72 - First wooden ship build
I'm on the same page as E.J.. I guess it may come down to what details do you want to show off more, the sails or the deck and rigging. I hope this helps

Hi Mike they really are the way to go. Using a saw and with the up and down motion would have ripped the thin planking(.5 mm) making a mess. These bits are cheap to buy less than a $1.00 each and they stay sharp a long time when cutting wood. Only seven more holes to go!!!!

donrobinson got a reaction from thibaultron in Cutty Sark by Marter1229 - FINISHED - Constructo - old kit revived
Looks like you have a great start on her, and she is defiantly worthy of finishing. Sorry I can't help with the "brittle" parts they maybe some sort of kevel or boom support possibly, hopefully someone with more Cutty Sark knowledge than I will have an answer for you. I will check my Billings kit and see if there is something similar and let you know. Welcome to MSW Terry

donrobinson got a reaction from cobra1951 in Vasa by puckotred - DeAgostini - Scale 1:65
terrible planking, if it is just the first planking a person could maybe live with it. If it is the one and only layer of planking then "Houston we have a problem"
