Great looking model! I have been hoping someone would do a build thread for this ICM kit. ICM has really stepped up their game over the past couple of years.

Decals have been applied I know we like thin but man some of these were just to thin I lost several.I have several mistakes in the paint all on the undersides 1) the white under the wings went one panel to far inboard.2) the white band on the tail is 1/16" to wide hint the "A" hit the white centering the "Z" and 3) the RLM 78 was to go much lower between the wing and tailplanes live and learn.I think when done 9 out of 10 people will never notice those mistakes so I march on.I made up the colors for the props, bombs and prop covers.

Love that camo scheme, you are doing a great job on it.
It's amazing after all the years the F-15 has been in service, it's still one of the very best fighter aircraft in the world's air forces.

A small update, after a long series of touch ups, where I was correcting oversprays of one color just to make oversprays on the other one, I consider the main airframe finally done. Not perfect, but good enough for me.

The two fins need to be finished, then a coat of gloss will follow.
    Cheers,
    Dan

If you have no proper acrylic glue, just use a dab of clear acrylic varnish as a glue to temporarily hold them in place.

It's nice that you are taking a slow methodical approach to building the Hood. Enjoy the journey.
Very finely molded and machined parts are these kit's specialty, well written instructions not so much. Maybe sometimes not at all.
I would consider gluing the tiny vents to a wooden popsicle stick using acrylic glue and then painting them. They can readily be removed after they are painted and dry to handle them.

It helps to keep a bottle of CA debonder handy to assist in removing delicate PE parts when you need to do that. Another reason to use Gator Grip acrylic glue for PE is because it debonds with water. Comes in really handy when mistakes need to be corrected.

The I Love Kit version of the 1941 Hood used a wood deck application on the lower deck. I never checked to see if it was historically accurate or not. Besides the lower deck, you have the sides of the superstructure under there to paint. Maybe it won't be seen? It will be hard to paint with the upper deck in place.

Glad to see you have started your Hood, looks great so far. Did you buy the deluxe kit with a wood deck? How do you intend to paint or use the wood deck application on the lower deck now that the upper deck is glued in place?

You raised an earlier question about your build and painting sequence...I prefer to assemble the hull and then smooth out the join line before painting. This requires masking later on, but it's easy to do provided you use a good quality tape. Sometimes I assemble the deck and hull as well. Once you get the hang of the airbrush, it's not hard to paint the deck without spoiling the hull paint on the sides of the hull, but mask as required if you need to.
I don't like painting the hull in separate pieces then assembling because it's more difficult to keep from showing where it was cemented together than it is to mask it. In the end, do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable in doing it. After all, everything is a learning experience anyway no matter who we are.

Yes, just refill the airbrush cup as needed. No problem at all. Only time something special is needed is when you change colors, then you do a bit of a cursory cleaning so that your color stays pure.

The "hike" in price is because your local dealer takes on all the risk and cost of the shipping from Asia. When a kit box gets damaged in shipping, like the one you received, your local dealer cannot sell it without selling it for a loss. When one buys it directly from Asia, one just needs to understand the risk involved. Returning a damaged item to China is cost prohibitive. The cost of postage alone is very expensive.

There's at least one who does, did not check for others.

one thing you didn't mention Craig,  is that the washes you used on the plane mottled the flat finish a bit more,  killing more of the flat sheen.  that made it look even better.....more life like    great job on the plane!
