Gerhardvienna reacted to Omega1234 in SHADOW by Omega1234 - FINISHED - Scale 1/300 - Luxury 60m Mega Yacht
Hi Greg
Thanks for your compliments. How do I do it? My Dad always used to say that it's got nothing to do with 'patience', instead, one can do anything if they're really interested!
Well, that's my excuse anyway.
Have a good week.
Cheers
Patrick

Life is comedian sometimes... What to do ... Shut your mouth and swim, a coast is far away
Beginning of Captain's Gig
Same method as on Jolly Boat

Thank you all for your kind words and support
Now, my summer vacation starts a few days ago in ... usual way ... drowned in home works ... day by day started to slide from my hands
Fortunately, until august 30th Courts are closed for summer vacation, my clients use their vacations, so I have pretty long resting time (July 25th until august 25th), and I shall figure out something. For instance, to empty from trash, clean and repair roof in attic (50 m 2 to empty and clean, and 10 m2 roof to repair). Outside is nice 37 C, and in attic is nearly 47 C, so I do not need SPA !
Of course, there will be more time to finish last three boats
I do not plan to travel somewhere for now by money reasons , maybe couple of days to take my friend`s cottage deep in the middle of nowhere in central Serbia as base, and to make some trips around ... we will see ... still all bricks are not on their place on that wall
Anyhow, see you soon with some progress
All removed couple of years ago when I had visit of carpenter ants and war with them...
This part of attic was turned to Hothead`s music studio where I had my first attempt to play drums ... sure now he has no time for that, and drums are in their boxes
Me, bathing in sweat ...
Pity, in Serbia there is no such a thing as garage selling ... But there are some recycling companies to take 3/4 of this trash

Hi Johnhoward
Great progress with your St. Louis! While I`m struggling with some smaller issues at home (need a new water boiler for my bathroom....), I have to make a little break with the Cairo

Attached are photos of our "USS St. Louis" ironclad flue type boilers/firebox and exhaust plenum recently completed by Bill. This model represents our reconstruction of the complete boiler arrangement for a typical Western River steamboat from about 1840 onward and was sized for our ironclad from the 5 boilers, steam drum, one of the mud drums, a few of the valves and 2 firebox doors actually recovered with the "USS Cairo" in 1963. The remaining more fragile elements such as the sheet metal covered firebrick bridge and sheet metal exhaust plenum apparently didn't survive or couldn't be reassembled.
The model consists of a wood sub-structure covered by embossed metal foil sheathing and cast firebox doors with added individual relief and mud drum clean-out valves, all primed, painted and highlighted to correctly represent its exterior surfaces. High pressure steam from these boilers is fed to the two single cylinder main steam engines, the "Doctor" main auxiliary steam engine and another auxiliary steam engine which powered the capstan.
