  1. The deck gun, I’ll only use one so which ever one that comes up best. Base coat of greys done. Filters next
  2. So new tools. Burfitt tools was at the show I went to a few weeks ago. Revelation…… tweezers with ceramic points. They. Stop. The. PE. Ping!!!
  3. So this is where I’m up to. I need to do the guns next but short or adding railings it’s done. 10 single 25mm’s, two triples and 2 doubles to go!
  4. Well noticed Popeye, it is, I’ve been sanding it back as smooth as I can. I’m hoping a few coats of paint after will make it go away.
  5. So the second last part of the build arrived today in the form of a ww1 postcard of U-9 for the base from a German bookseller. These were widely produced to celebrate war heroes
  6. Fresh off the boat from Micromaster in NZ, one of the final pieces of the puzzle, a deck cannon. References say there was one after 1915 😊
  7. Very simple build, needs a bit of putty as the alignment is not perfect. as you can see from the photo, the inner walls have support struts which I’ve done in plastic strip. finally, and I have no idea why this was not done, the stern has an anchor which has a angled slope for the anchor stock, (I expect it’s for dragging it off beaches.
  8. It’s going to be part of a much more detailed build log, but this is the easiest part of the puzzle. I find myself held up with 2 builds for Roma and U 9
  9. This is a lovely little kit, with extra tanks, landing craft and other stuff, very little of which I will use. My plan is change the title of this build several times, as there will be 3 IJN subs, barges and a Submarine tender, the Heinan Maru. This is the first part of the build .
  10. I just fell across this image, a watercolour from 1946, a perfect end
  11. Well rigged mate! Once you start it becomes quite simple and you’re finished before you know it.
  12. Pretty much done. I need to patiently wait on the mail for a few things now. I painted the wire handrails grey and rusted them slightly and added a flag from a different set which is much nicer than the kit one.
  13. Thanks. I’m in the process of doing the rigging at the moment, and I’ve ordered a 5cm German deck gun for her from Micromaster. Might be accurate but who knows, it will look great. I’ve recieved some gas patch machine guns for her which really are not that much better than the kit ones. it’s massive and an absolute challenge but quite fun. So the Canberra model shipwrights has their display this weekend. Representing my club I Brough some plastic ships. There is a guy here who carves better than any 3D printer does. I’ll take photos tomorrow
  14. Really nice work mate. I see they have now got an aftermarket deck for it too!
  15. Final weathering begins, sponging on some brown to represent worn paint
  16. Yes, I saw that. I’ve left that section alone until do the weathering, I’m crap at decals too, so I’ll rectify that too. I do appreciate the stear, it’s easy to lose track
