  1. Pretty much done. I need to patiently wait on the mail for a few things now. I painted the wire handrails grey and rusted them slightly and added a flag from a different set which is much nicer than the kit one.
  2. Thanks. I’m in the process of doing the rigging at the moment, and I’ve ordered a 5cm German deck gun for her from Micromaster. Might be accurate but who knows, it will look great. I’ve recieved some gas patch machine guns for her which really are not that much better than the kit ones. it’s massive and an absolute challenge but quite fun. So the Canberra model shipwrights has their display this weekend. Representing my club I Brough some plastic ships. There is a guy here who carves better than any 3D printer does. I’ll take photos tomorrow
  3. Really nice work mate. I see they have now got an aftermarket deck for it too!
  4. Final weathering begins, sponging on some brown to represent worn paint
  5. Yes, I saw that. I’ve left that section alone until do the weathering, I’m crap at decals too, so I’ll rectify that too. I do appreciate the stear, it’s easy to lose track
  6. Cool! How long did it take for one to grunge up one’s hull?
  7. Great document but U9 was pre ww1. I’m happy to make it up
  8. So some more alge (I’ve read accounts of these first war German subs, they’d park on shallow sea floors, so I reckon they’d pick up some grunge. the whole bottom hull given a colour Le of layers of green slime then thinned off.
  9. The bulk of the hull will be underwater (go figure, it’s a sub). I know it will be Manky, and I found this image of a ww1 sub in drydock with a green slime hull. So that’s what I’m going to sim for. Nearly every shot you see of ships in drydock they have already been cleaned off.
  10. The new AOTS are great, I just got the Hiryu book, the level of detail is astounding
  11. @Ponto the voids are part of the chipping process, I’m just not sure if it’s excessive. I still need to do washes and filters yet.
  12. Lower hull done, the upper hull dragged off a bit too much paint with the masking so I don’t know if I’m happy with it.
  13. Chipping part 2, the remainder of the top deck, painted light grey, then chipping fluid then a few darker shades of grey and worn down. The saddle tanks will remain quite dark (I’ll give it a salt wash later)
  14. Chipping part 1 (of lots), AK worn fluids, then three layers of grey. little bit of water and rubbing to bring out the dark red below.
