Ondras71 reacted to No Idea in Le Rochefort by No Idea - 1/24th Scale - First POF Build
So far so good mate!
Today I had to first correct an omission on my part. I forgot that the floor side of the frame has a narrower fitting on the rising wood and I had forgotten to do this. So I cut the 3 affected notches which luckily was easy enough.
Next I made the lower apron and the apron. Another tricky part to get right but I've done the best that I can. Its now clamped onto the keel waiting for the glue to dry. I'm going to concentrate on the stem rabbet next so I need to put some thought into that.

To claybaker and garyshipwright - These milling cutters are manufactured by a number of manufacturers in the world, so it does not matter which manufacturer you choose. There are several of these manufacturers on aliexpress. I myself chose the "Chinese variant" because it is significantly cheaper and will do the same service as more expensive milling cutters.
Installation of quarterdeck deck beams.

To G. Delacroix - thanks for the info, I made the new one items with no wedges
To garyshipwright - I am using "10 Degree 0.1mm Tip Carbide CNC Bits Flat Bottom Milling Cutter V Shape" (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/852725456.html) for most of CNC 3D carvings. Question about tutorial - I am so sorry, making a video tutorial would be too time consuming and my knowledge of English is minimal.
I continue with the assembly of the capstans.

Hi druxey 🤣 Thanks for the comment - Maybe one of the mods can give me a new screen name I'll leave it to them to choose 🤣
Today I made the sternpost knee extension which turned out to be quite tricky to make. It has many notches at differing angles and then it has to be tapered towards the stern. Not only that it tapers downwards too and then the sternpost knee and the false sternpost have to tapered to match. I found the best approach was to fully mark out the tapers in all directions on all the pieces to that I could envisage how it should look after it was completed.
I think this job took me about 9 hours today but I'm quite pleased with the results. It's not quite perfect as its about 0.5mm out in a couple of places but I think its about as good as I can do at the moment. There is a picture below showing it on the keel - since this was taken I spent about an hour making it fit really nicely and now its glued onto the keel. I'm looking forward to getting the clamps off in the morning.
Tomorrow I'll have a look at the bow parts and see what needs to be made. Thank you all for the really nice comments they really have blown me away

Thank you very much Silverman. Thanks for the like! 😇
I have been thinking for a long time about finishing the connection of the front stem according to Witsen..
Replica of Barents' ship..
So I added it. The cuts were made with a 0.15 mm thick razor saw, and 0.09 mm black paper was placed..
Klinkbout will be added after grinding..
And now really a balcony..

Hi all ship mates.
Small update of my build process.
I start accept the idea that there is not much left until the model will be finished

Thanks for the like.
On a vertical drill, I drilled holes for the support bars of the railing posts. These guarantee the exact shape..
And he completed all the wales at the stern..

Real LIVE OAK piece from the Tally Ho build that I am going to use in my build. The piece with the knot missing is WHITE OAK. Straighter grain than the LIVE OAK.

Just I few more progress photos. Added the prop shaft. Harder than I thought to drill a straight line through Purple Heart hard wood. Long small drills like to drift a lot. Tiny bolts.
Question for everyone. Looking for a better source for mini hardware. These are costing $1.80 for each nut and washer + shipping, not including the bolt itself, or about $4 a bolt (2 nuts, 2 washers & bolt). Thanks for any help. Have already got though 25, and have lots more to add.

The anchor has two main parts. These parts are cast in tin and plated with copper and then nickel.
