    Thx for your comment, Rich.

Not so hard, rather ... too more uniform moves on long long long line.

But, I am kind of fool who find something interesting even in digging hole in ground ... so ... keel lines to bow ... keel lines to stern ... waterlines to bow ... central section ... overlap on places of contact ...

But it goes very well in result, and I am satisfied ( for now ...)

Also, I use this stage of building as a good time to listen some music I did not listen earlier in life from different reasons ( dont liked it, no time, no interest, prejudice, not discovered, can not find ...)  Do you know that complete soundtrack from Lord Of The Rings movies can be listened as classical music ? Combined with Giuseppe Verdi ("Aida" and "The Messa da Requiem") and Gheorghe Zamfir`s pan flute - all in shuffle mode is really something special. Also, considering that on this job brain is only a half time busy, you can in peace think about many necessary and unnecessary things ...

Bar Association declared the strike of 4000 attorneys in Belgrade (which is sort of great shame for the country and politicians , in whole word attorneys are significant part of justice system) so there is a lot of time ... no one come to courts, trials are postponed, ... I wrote about this problems earlier in log, but now they com to the peak, because state administration, on very arrogant manner, few days ago rises our taxes 100-300% retroactively from January without any economic reason except to fill budget ... On the other side, State administration do absolute nothing to improve judicial system (but on the contrary, all moves are nonproductive and destroy it ), to reduce abnormal budget expenditures for wages to unnecessarily employed people - members of the ruling political parties employed last 10-15 years in budget institutions (assessment is that it is 150-200,000 such a people, and considering that Serbia have less than 8.000.000 citizens, only 1.200.000 of them employed, more than a 3/4 of them in budget institutions, more than 1.500.000 pensioners, add there children, pupils and students, and more than 1.000.000 unemployed, you can see whole terrific picture, with no chance to get in normal soon)

Sometimes I feel as Alice in Wonderland, and Her Majesty is very good sedative ( or hole for the ostrich head, as you like ...)

But, get back to something more cheerful ...

First attack of left and right three keel lines of plates to the bow is over. Lines are there, rivets are there, everything seems to go really fine to me

And now, according to the coopering schemes I have look at, next is attack of 3-5 lines on both sides simultaneously along with waterline from stern to bow, or reverse, (I must look at  again)

    Ah ... waterline

I am not sure how I get old waterline before painting black, but I am sure that on this time I didn't have C-plans converted to my scale, and I decided to check upon C-plans

And, of course, new waterline must be drown ...

First - I adjust kitchen table ( 120 x 80 cm) to be 100% horizontal, then make a jig from Chinese magnifier/soldering helper and felt pen 0,1 mm. Then turn Her upside down, and make keel 100% horizontal

it works very well, and here is new drawn waterline

Next round in my  "Third Hull war" is waiting to start

Water finally comes, and it seems everything is backing in normal.

I made some calculation : there will be about 3500-4000 individual plates 4x10 mm. Over 30 "rivets" on each ... more than 100.000 rivets ... game of large numbers ...

Aproxsimately 2 min per plate to draw, cut, rivet, place and glue, in best conditions

8.000 minutes = 130 working hours, approximately two working hours per day = 60-70 working days = more than 3 months (I do not work every day)

What I calculate wrong? This is impossible

Keith, my AL string looks like uneven poor quality string. Doesn't look like mini-rope at all.

Grant, I plan on getting 4 maybe 5 sizes & of course 2 colors- 2 are out of stock but Chuck tells me they will be available by the weekend.... Really hoping I can get the better rope

John, I did it the hard way. I used mini files to cut down the thickness & fingernail emery sticks to shape it up & finish it up. This is very difficult. They are so small & hard to hold (especially with one hand still with bad carpal tunnel , the other one still recovering from surgery, & severe nerve damage from late stage lyme disease). The emery boards are great sanding tools for small work. They are cheap, you can get them just about anywhere & they come in all different grits.

    Thanks everyone!

Not much work getting done, here are a few pics of progress on some of the yards. I have been doing a lot of thinking & planning. Doing some stalling because I am at the beginning of the rigging stages & I am not liking the rigging thread supplied in the kit. Trying to get the Admiral to let me order new rope from Chuck. Been looking his stuff over & it looks much better than what I have now. I guess I'll be shaping the rest of the yards, doing some weathering & other things in the meantime.

Jumping around a bit. Shaped a few of the yards & started on some of the trusses. The foreyard truss is wood attached with metal pins & CA glue. Will add bands later. The lower fore topsail yard truss I made out of metal wire. Banded it onto the yard with flattened metal wire wrapped around & hooked into notches in the yard. CA glued them, filled in the area where the wire notched into the yard, filed it down to match the rest of the band & painted them. This was a little complicated, wrapping CA coated paper would have done & looked just as good but wouldn't have held the truss very strong.

The main deck staircase and banisters are completed. Everything was constructed from scrap lumber since they are not included in the kit.

    Next up: The ship's stove.

I am working on the main deck staircase. The staircase is secured in place and the upper and lower banister rails are cut. Since both the lower and upper rails have to match perfectly, each was cut and matched into a pair. The lower are secured to the deck and the upper sections are laying next to them. Next up is to place the stanchions and then the upper rail sections.

I added the framing for the main deck gratings and staircase.
The grating frame was made with 3x2mm walnut standing up on the 2mm side.
The staircase frame was made with 5x1.5mm walnut laying flat. Both frames were stained with one coat of red oak.

**note: The plans call for an opening of 32mm square for the gratings. Make sure to leave a small lip of planking on the edges running along the ship's length for the gratings to rest on. Also, keep the square openings at 33mm or less because the gratings when assembled are just a pinch over 33mm. They will fall through anything larger than 33mm.

Next up: Placing the main staircase and constructing the bannisters.

I just bought this new tool from MicroMark. It is for cutting mitred angles on wood strips. I have a cutting block for this, but this tool is much easier to use and makes clean accurate cuts. I will be posting a few photos soon on the frames and the staircase of the main deck. All of the cuts were made with this tool.

I finished the main deck planking and applied one coat of a clear satin finish. I also simulated the trenails at all of the joints, but you can't see it in the photos. I need a really good camera with a closeup wide angle lens.
Next up is to prepare and add the frames around the square openings and place the main deck staircase.

Working on planking the main deck. I am really pleased with the color of the bleached walnut wood. Using Peter's research, it appears that at this scale, the length of a real ship's deck planks should be no more than 102mm. The kit calls for 180mm. I chose to go with 100mm. Rather than plank with one continuous strip and simulate joints with a marker, I chose to do it the actual way with the 3 plank shift. The first line at the center was done with all 100mm strips and the next started with a 75mm strip, the next with 50mm and the next with 25mm, then back to a 100mm and so on. One long edge and both ends of each strip were  darkened with a black marking pen to simulate the black caulking that was used in between planks to seal the deck. I also tried to mix up the grains of the planks to give it more a realistic look since real decks were planked with lumber that did not match the flow of the grain.
All this may seem to the extreme, but I said I would try to take this build to a more extreme level of reality than my last.

After considering several methods of creating the Great Cabin floor, I decided to use Chuck's method.  In my experience, doing so is never a bad idea!

The floor will be made from walnut and boxwood 3/16 x 1/32" strips.  A paper template of the area to be covered was made and a piece of 6 x 6 x 1/32" plywood was used as the base.  First, the strips were cut to approximate length and glued to the plywood base:

The curvature you see is created by the camera.  Next, a jig was made in order to create 3/16" strips to be cut with an Exacto blade:

The individual strips were then cut:

The strips were offset and then edge glued together to create the pattern:

The paper pattern was then used to cut and sand the floor for a tight fit.  Here's what we got:

Finally, just some overall shots.  The floor was finished with natural stain, WOP for protection and Dullcoat to give a flat finish:

Although most of the floor will be covered by the (open) upper decking and deck beams, I think we have a nice overall detail.  I'm pleased

Will be closing the shop for the upcoming Holiday festivities (Happy Independence Day to all of my fellow Americans).  When we return, the strains of DECK PLANKING music will be heard in the Rockies.

Oh, we have just passed 600 hours into the build.

Again wrestling with a wild rose which grew 5m high that want to enter under neighbors roof ... nice but killing flower. I do nor need any tatoo, my skin is ploted by scratches. Admiral likes roses ( 15 diferent sorts in yard) and some of them are extremly prickly. AlsoShe likes extremly prickly Yucca, ( on two places, 10 pieces) which grow wild and spread himself to the yard with speed of light. Quess who cut this beast ?

I have done my today homework, and went to Her to continue makeing Her dress

First three lines on both sides reached stern

On one side, these three lines reached to bow, on another, just preparation for plates

We are still without water ... communal emergency services do not work over weekend  (!?!"?!?!?!).

What a country. We do not need sanctions, bombing, floods, tornados, earthquake  or simmilar  ... we are self-sufficient to terminate ourselfs nice and easy ... just wait to see ...

Denis, I learned that this is not easy how it, maybe, seems on first sight. I learned that from first plate I put on place. So sensitive to curvatures of hull. Unbelievable. And lines of plates are so important for whole final look of hull. Them help watchers to understand what is that metal mass on hull ( they sure can not see rivets, not to speak about rivets lines, overlap and fit of plates etc etc

BTW, I do not let them this ... but my eyes don't allow me to work more than two hours continuously. Until I was born, I am shortsighted, with years my diopter reduces, so I can live, drive and work etc etc almost without glasses. But, with years also come weak eyesight for very small things, and I still refuse to have two pair of glasses ... So, work with/without magnifier, and after two hours, max three hours,  I can not work any more if I do not want "clean mess business" for tomorrow ... no, I am not stubborn ...

This evening, next 30 plates are on place, and a "battle for stern" is about to begin (first I must surround "enemy" with plates army from the another side of hull, and then attack from the bush ...

Uhh, Bindy, very proud and happy - when everything passed

Yesterday he turns me and Admiral directly to pre-cardiac condition and heart attack ( I am not kidding !!!!) ... EVERYTHING must be done in very last second and after that if it could be ... printing/plotting  his diploma work in10 x 3  A0 formats, instead in Friday started yesterday at 09:30 instead 08:00, instead 12:00 as they promised finished at 13:30, and his exam was scheduled to 12:20 ... he was late to his exam more than a hour, put him in the car and crazy drive to university, Admiral and Princes stayed to pick up prints when finished and catch any kind of telekinesis they can find to university after us, in university  ... ... ... ... , prints arrived at the same end of his presentation ... very unpleasant situation ... His mentor decided to wait half an hour, ...

Happily everything finished good, but ... my nerves, Admiral nerves, Princes nerves .... We all were with him from early morning until evening ...

And that is not His first time to arrange chaos

But, it is over for now, and we are all in seventh heaven

Thanks S.Coleman. The Chopper isn't very expensive - about $75 from memory - and is available at most of the larger hobby stores in Australia. It's made by Midwest Shortline in the US.

Well I've pretty much finished my latest workshop, so work restarts on this model.

While waiting for the glue to dry on the upper cabin I did some work on the lower posts. These have two (supposed to be three, but there wasn't enough brass wire left in the kit) rails running through them. They are also chamfered for about 3/5 of their length.

The posts all varied a bit in height due to the second deck being already fitted, so each one had to be individually measured and cut with an angle both top and bottom - they slope inward about 8 degrees. I prepared and marked all the posts prior to fitting them (they are in no particular order for this pic) :

I threaded both wire rails through the posts before starting to glue them in, first dry-fitting the whole assembly to ensure all fitted properly - so far so good . Once I was happy with the fit the port side was glued into place :
