Before you plank, check the glue you'll be using to the dummy barrels to the polystyrene. Some glues just melt it.
It may be better to replace with balsa.
Fairing the bulkheads make all the difference with planking!
Thanks I'm still working on the fairing. It takes a lot of effort....I might get my dremmel out.

Hi Treesqueak
Have a look at Toms10s build. It shows where and what these pieces are for. Maybe ask him about them?
It also looks as if he has an English copy of the instructions too!
I've looked at that one, but I can't find anything about number 36.

Looking pretty good at this point. I do suggest that you read well ahead in the instructions. The reason is that after they tell you to glue the main deck down, they then tell you assemble and install the guns which is impossible. We've had way too many abandoned builds happen when they realize that they can't install the guns.
Yeah. Which is why I think it just skipped the step of adding that vaneer to number 33.

I have Translated the Instructions, that only came in Italian. Feel free to use these as you will.

I'm working on this ship right now, but it didn't come with instructions in English for some reason (the blue book of instructions seems to be entirely in Italian), i can follow the pictures, as well as your posts, but do you still have yours by any chance and the ability to scan them?

Two of the same number and neither fit the instructions??

Hi Teetree.
Simply put - especially for me - The bottoms don't line up because of the way the hull is designed, you'll see this in the pictures. The tops line up decause that's where the deck lies. I completely messed up my first attempt 40 years ago and gave up until recently - no internet for help back then!
Have a read of these tutorials Hull and Planking Lots of info there.
[Also I would suggest starting a build log in the 1751 - 1800 area. Loads of help and advice to be gained by that.
Read this on how to name your log too! Naming your log]
Edit - see you've already done this!
Bob
Thank you soooo much, those guides will be very useful

Bulkhead
I have a very basic question so that I don't stuff up before I've barely started.
I know my bulkhead peices need to be at right angles, but should I be lining them up at the top or the bottom?
I have started lining them up at the top, but the bottoms don't line up, is this normal?
I think they should be lined up at the top, but I'm going to pause for an answer before I continue.

I'm building the US Constellation from Artwsania.

There we go. Some decent Balsa wood blocks. It's not right, when you buy a kit you shouldn't have to blindly make peices. It should come with them.
