  1. Thanks for all the great comments guys. Figurines are so small that attaching them to the deck was challenging. I drilled holes in the bottoms of the animals, inserted thin brass rods, then drilled matching holes in the deck and glued the rods in place. Spiral staircases will be next.
  2. Deck planking is only .5mm thick-taped about a dozen together with blue masking tape and made the cuts with the mini chop saw through the tape to avoid shattering the wood. Set the fence on the saw to the proper length and it made a quick job out of making the cuts. Brushed wood glue on each plank and the job went nice and easy.
  3. Found some extra time over the holidays to make a bit more progress. Cabins are planked and the doors are installed, lots of sanding to make them fit in the openings. Got the leds in to light up the cabins. W shaped pattern on the next deck should be fun.
  4. Lots of progress since last post. Hull is planked cabins are test fitted and base has been constructed of 1x2 to hide wiring harness. Thanks to all who posted for their encouraging comments.
  5. Working on led lighting - but doing it different from the plans. Ordered 3v yellow leds, AA battery box with switch from amazon. Going to conceal wire harness inside a custom base and wire from the bottom to to top last led being in the wheelhouse.
  6. Planking is coming along - curved part of the bow Planks needed lots of soaking in hot water and heat with the electric plank bender.
  7. Deck planks are .5mm thick almost paper thin. They are used on different decks and to cover the cabins. Hope there is enough. Looked at Artesania Latina website and don't see any additional wood for sale.
  8. Got this 2 inch mini cut-off saw from Harbor Freight - made it better by mounting it to a base and adding a fence
  9. Even got the "Little People" accessory kit. As small as these are it should be a real challenge to paint them.
  10. Back again with another project. 11. Rattlesnake is finally completed along with a showcase made of 1x2 pine and plexiglass. The rigging plan on this ship leaves a lot to be desired. It would have been better if they had divided it into two sheets one for the standing rigging and another for the rest. I have given away 4 out of the 5 that I have built to my Kids and only kept the Danmark so as not to turn our home into a nautical museum. All in all I had a good time building it, but now comes the time to decide what is next. Special thanks go's out to Kenneth Powell for the great detail pics of his built that came in handy when the plans were lacking.
