  1. Hi Sundt! All colors on the hull are Quick bengalac from rattlecans. Satin white, satin årgang and gloss red. Primed with Quick primer.
  2. The head for the Helmsman is done. I have no idea for colour choice regarding the clothing, Something red and yellow?
  3. I have also started the work on the two figures. The position of the helmsman is yet to be decided so I can not glue his arms yet. But I can start painting the watchout, their heads, hands and the binocular. I started with three thin layers of base scin and painted the eyes and the red bloodline around the edge. It is a WIP🙈
  4. Today I finally had some time and painted the pipe for the oven, the exhaust and the things that leads the anchor chain throgh the deck. (what is those called?) I also finished the vent, changing some of the parts and added some scratch build parts to make it look more like the original.

  6. Hi Sundt! I machine sanded the deck with 80 grit and it turned grey. Hand sanding with finer grit made it even worse… But I was not afraid😂, I used the sharp edge of a glass plate to «sickle» or scrape the wood to make the grain visible. It even got a gloss look before furnishing👍🏻
  7. Painted the prop as well. Airbrushed with Balthazar Gold, several washes with Agrax Earthshade and a very diluted wash with Nikilakh Okside on top. Not very realistic but interesting for the eye?
  8. Started on the deck as well. Need to sand a little more some places… The glass shard gets dull quite fast, hope I have enough glass to finish the deck planking.
  9. Scraping the hatches and deck houses with glass. The upper one is only sanded, not scraped yet. I am amazed over this technique and how it exposes the grain in the wood!
  10. I started to build this kit August 17. I have now glued the planking with water proof white glue. Glass scraping of the deck and hatches are next on the agenda.
  11. All beams were warped during 13 years of storage in different conditions, but I managed to make it fit with some persuation…
  12. The keel and beams were glued in and the propeller shaft already in place when i got the kit. I started with the fore and aft plywood:
  13. Got this kit as a gift from my father-in-law. Two previous owners have tried and failed to build it. This is my first boat kit, and also my first build of wood. I started modelling 1:35 armor in january and will try to transfer some of the weathering tecniques to this scale.
  14. Hi Sundt. I got a kit from my father-in-law four weeks ago and started building it looking at your blog. How is the build progressing?
