    It's quite a mix. Plastic styrene Resin vacuform moulded parts and balsa ply. The funnels were made from empty Guinness cans cut into sheets flat the form wrapped around big rolls. The intensity of the Austerity measures enforced from the wife has caused me to get very creative in recycling hahaha

    Thankyou for the kind comments, sorry for the delay in reply was having a bad day health wise today. The Paravane info courtesy of Wikpedia best description I could find. They were used a lot also on lightly armoured Troop ships Britannic etc.

    Nearly ready for her RC fitout and test float and first acceptance trials. D84. May need help from my boys getting her on the water.

    Relaxing afternoon on the water. Some work remains on the Rhib' deck stern and Guard rail some other minor miscellaneous deck fittings . And awaiting Hull pennant numbers and depth markings enjoying this little FCPB.

    An enjoyable afternoon on the water with Nuship Gawler. Testing the Nav lights and then a Banyan. Awaiting some smaller battery 🔋 to reduce her overall weight issues.

    First acceptance Sea trials for Nuship Gawler. A successful run (she didn't sink) A bit of weight issue to address. I'm running 2* 2200mah 2s Lipo at 268g combined. I will find some smaller battery under 100g. Probably overpowered the twin Diesel MTU's push her through the water at a great rate of knots.

    Successful test ESC motors and servo motors. Good progress today.

    After much consideration the construction of a new main Mast work for the Gawler is underway. Pics will follow. Thanks for the advice John.

    I'm Not happy with the gauge of the mast work, will probably re do it at some point, it's about a mm to thick me thinks.

    Dib dabs have been busy today putting up 3hole post and rail. Part of ship Have secured early for the day due to eye strain and loss of coordination.

    Thankyou Ian for the kind words and advice regarding the Title. This is my first True scratch build of this scale and I must admit the learning curve is very steep. Its is a mix of 3d Print and scratch built using styrene sheet and other materials. Progress has been a little slow recently but I hope to get things moving along when time and Health allows.     Foc'sle staring to take shape on the "Aussie" . I am split in deciding on period correct painted decks or lay down decking. I am starting at the pointy end working my way back. I did a rough fit up of the other deck section and planning superstructure, wow! this is a big ship.

    Mary, Very Sorry for the recent loss of your Dad, Welcome to the fold Fellow (model) Shipwright. We tend to be over critical of our own work at times and can have some of the enjoyment taken from the hobby as such. Enjoy the hobby for what it is and regardless of building ship models you will always have the loving memories of your Dad and mentor in life.     Portside Anchor and hawse, The Focsle just resting without stringers to ensure the Hawse fit and angle is correct. Starting to look like a warship. (Long ways to go)

    Been doing a lot of research on this colour and the origins of its use in Particular for the RAN during 1942-1943 in the Pacific. Your outcome looks pretty bloody good. Cheers.

    Took a couple of goes, now In place, Water proof and awaiting sanding and a Servo. Mix of Bog and resin some grease on the Rudder shaft to Gland it. I am intending to make a bulkhead with ports for the push rods from Servo to control horns.

    5mm Brass sleeve back fitted with eyelet. 2x done, 👍several hundred more to do. Giving the middle finger to Parkinson's disease one scuttle at a time. Cheers
