  1. This model kit by Revell of the USS Arizona 1:426 scale.

I had done this one previously but just was not satisfied so I built it again, without some things. The turret tops were only painted shortly before the attack on Pearl Harbor. So I left that off. The tripod masts are difficult to assemble but the deck in three sections fit nicely into the hull. An old kit first introduced in 1959.IMG_2202.thumb.jpeg.999995977881044abcfd6525a473888d.jpeg
  2. Just a few photos of the finished project. I find Tamiya to have the best fit and no flash in their models. This took approximately 16 hours to paint and assemble. I used my own color scheme, so not historically accurate to any particular Mustang. As far as the fuselage and wings, I used a small can of Testors spray aluminum paint. And Testors light blue for the tail and olive drab for the top of the nose. I actually put the red and yellow checkered decal around the nose as an afterthought a few days after competition and viewing photos on-line. I’m glad I hadn’t thrown the decal sheet into the trash. The decals are of good quality.

  3. U.S. Navy Veteran. Not a wood ship builder, never tried it, although I love looking at them and reading about them. I have always built plastic models of ships and at age 77 I will not be attempting any wood ships. The only wooden ship I own is a “gift shop” model. But I love anything nautical and the sea. I read sea stories and the history of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII and in it’s beginnings in the late 1700’s.  This is a very nice forum.
