  1. Mike, thanks a lot for the welcome.  In an answer to your questions, I am fine, thank you.  I retired in 2018, and it feels like it was yesterday.  After 30 years I thought it would hit me hard because I've been to so many retirement ceremonies over the years.  But I realized something, if it were at the 20-year mark I would have felt it because at the 20-year mark you know deep inside you still have a lot of shelf life.  On the flip side, I was getting tired towards the 30-year mark, and by then the Navy had gone through some ridiculous experiments that I had lost a handful of Sailors to them, and they could not be replaced.  Anyway, I had already known by then I was also going to be 100% VA rated, so I wasn't going to stick around to 40 years for CAPT.  I work now as a Government Contractor for the Air Force, lol as Ironic as that is, but have of our contracting team are retired Navy...Overall, I enjoy retirement.  I am hailing from Poquoson, Virginia right next to Langley AFB where I work.  Before retirement I lived in Chesapeake because I was stationed at all of the bases in the area, so going up and right wasn't too bad.  I am looking at my build log that I exported yesterday but trying to figure out how to attach it where you can see everything instead of clicking on a file to open it up, so hopefully I'll be able to figure that out.  Have fun and I look forward to corresponding with you.

  2. Hello how are you? How do you like retirement? I’ve been retired for 5 years and love every minute of it. I build wooden boats many working boats and armor models. Where are you located?
  3. Wow, looking great, I especially like the scrapers you made for the molding. Where and when was the conference?
  4. No big rush, I’m retired so I have plenty of time. I still like to build this model. Good luck with it, take your time.
  5. It looks like a nice kit. How are the instructions? Easy to follow? I understand the camber, it don’t look like a lot of camber so the water would run off the decks. Great job!
  6. Looking good so far. I’m going to follow this build, because I think I would like to build myself.
  7. Just received Midwest Grand Bank Dory kit, that I’ll start tomorrow. I also ordered the Midwest kit Sakonnet Daysailer. The Grand Banks Dory kit looks really good. I kit the Midwest kits from Model Expo all are going to be pretty good! Will be following this build too!
  8. Could you use a divider with a pencil on the wood and pointer on model to trace the curve of the bow to the wood, then cutout and see how close you come to fitting.
  9. Looks great! You did a nice job! I just ordered this kit and looking forward to building it.
  10. Great job! I’ve done one of their kits and it’s a little weird wiring the planks together but it works! Like to do this kit myself.
