    Hi , starting this Dory build . Will likely be slow and steady rather than a fast build , so bear with me . So far read the instructions cover to cover and went over some of the build logs with this same model glued the three bottom planks together and added the bottom cleats have to clean up the ends and then champfer the cleats

    Hi all , Great to be here , have previously been a miniature modeler / painter and plastic plane / car modeler . have been an avid diver for past 6-7 yrs , got into sailing this year and so started looking for sailing vessel models being a fan of the Patrick O’Brien Aubrey/maturin series I was looking for period ships and then came across wooden ships and fell In love right now I purchased my first kit ITs by model shipways , their shipwright series , the first being a Lowell Dory to get a taste for basic wooden ship building thanks for allowing me to join , as I progress I will both keep you guys posted and keep pestering you with questions thanks Gill

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
