  1. Hey all, this kit does have some inaccuracies, I bought the book and there are a couple of things that bothered me. The fore deck in the kit is flat, whereas according to the book and other artwork the fore deck on the real ship had a 1" rise from the sternmost edge to the prow (from roughly 4' to 5' in the ceiling height of the forecastle). Roughly a quarter inch or so at scale. It does change the profile. The other thing that got my attention was the open forcastle of the original Vs closed off in the kit. Scaling of the deck and bulwark planking is also off quite a bit; although this is a common malady of many kits. Like many kits, the deck does not have the convex surface of the original ship. This can be replicated without too much effort; but it does complicate the hatch framing to some degree. The other error of note is the side bulwarks amidships curve inward on the original ship whereas the kit is vertical. The construction method in the kit makes this very difficult to replicate. I'm still trying to figure out the best method of recreating a more accurate cross-section of this area. Also the belay pins in the kit are not to scale and they look a bit out of place. All in all it is a nice kit, but if you are a stickler for historical accuracy there will be a fair number of modifications to achieve that goal.
