    I recently purchased an 8 foot model of the Edmund Fitzgerald that was built from scratch over the course of 10+ years by a gentleman named Russ Clemmer. I've been told it is the "best" in existence. I am not a model builder and really I don't want to pay for any type of membership. I just want to share this model with others and I imagined this group would have a particular interest. I'd like to hear the expert opinions of this group. I've recently loaned the model to my hometown museum and there was an article written by the local newspaper that includes lots of good pictures (better than mine). Most people get 1 free article but if you run into a paywall you can launch a incognito window and that usually works (or so I'm told). If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal.
