BTW, thinking about further scroll works on stern and bow, and analyzing pictures, C-plans etc etc, I concluded that I must learn how to use Photoshop or Corel or something similar to make drawings with layers ... MSWord is not adequate for this ... Years and years I run of this, but it seems time has come to learn something new ... I am not computer idiot, (started long ago with ZX Spectrum and MS Works), but until now I just go around it, if it is possible ... and without precise drawing on 1mm millimeter network on first layer, pictures on second, it seem not to be done precise ...- 4,151 replies

Gyula, these are very nice events, surely worth to lose some working days on your wooden pet. Do not be sad, She will not run away I think regular putty for wood will be OK enough. Nenad

Take care about thickness of stanchions. In my opinion cooper is too soft for this work, and if you chose thicker wire, it can be too much massive. And cooper can curve when you mount cooper stanchions Try with thin paperclips or something similar made of steel or iron Nenad

To add something. Considering future dimensions and looking of plates, I noticed, particulary if I wanted them to be visible with also visible rivets, that I had to enlarge them a little bit, and try to make "soft" little rivets, hardly visible from distance. In that stage I decided to leave a bit "scale approach" , and then rise question of measure and taste. Major task: lines, separated plates, rivets to be present, but only as "underline", not dominate. I think I succeed I do not know am I described this clear to understand, but I am writing on cellphone without Google Translate tool, and my English is ... Tarzan English- 4,151 replies

Thank you, Dave, your support is important to me. I see/know where I made mistakes, but I think them will not be visible without magnifier and myself to point on them- 4,151 replies

After 500-700 plates glued, I think I shall dream about plates plates plates ... ( Today Admiral told something about painting rooms ... I didn`t hear that ... ... but my first association was ... plating rooms with something riveted ...) Here is present stage of plating. I think one or two days to the end- 4,151 replies

Please, do not apply this on your model ... my experience is ( with panel rail) - as much thinner layer of color as it is possible, and there comes Acrylic paints because you can adjust their strength and transparency. If some place is too much transparent, see if it "can pass" as weathering ... Maybe when you crash your car ... or leg ... or head ... ( considering I am 190 cm high, I regularly more than once time every month literary bang my head on something sharp in home or on another place ... and I had many layers of different things on my bald head)

Thank you Denis. No, I did not drive him (40 km from our home, on another side of Belgrade). Whole my/his life I learned him (or try to learn him) that he must eat alone whole soup he cook up. I may feel sorry for him, but this is his job, not mine, his earned money, not mine. Fortunately everything (exept my sleep) finished just fine, he call his boss and get day off, and call to continue working, so tomorow at 05:00 we will see what will happen But, there is one life truth : when kids are in focus, never say "never". Parenthood is strange and wired thing in our lifes, and sometimes we all do things we never think that we will do ... You are right, Dave. This is really great hobby ( if we do not end up to Shipacholic state and place). As a colaterall of earlier sport life, I drink alcohol very rarley, rather nescofiee. There are many funny events about that ... This evening after long working day ( started by wellknown reason at 06:00 ended at 18:00) I made my nes, activated Bramss first clavir concerto in D, and continued installing last made reserves of plates. And little more progress was done. And Admiral was happy when I joined her in front of TV ( with laptop on my knees ) Next job is to make another set of 200-400-600 plates to continue torture- 4,151 replies

Thank you for joining, Dave I have just visited your web, and I am impressed !!! Your tips, comments, suggestions and any of your experience you want to share are more than welcome !!! Where were you when I started with my mess over a year ago ? Even it is my second wooden model, after pause of 30 years, I can say it is my first, and i think from time to time, too big bite ... but I love challenges and often tell myself two sentences in a row and with repeating in different combinations : "You can do it !" ... "You idiot" ..."You idiot" ..."You idiot" ..."You can do it !" ... "You idiot" ... "You can do it !" ... "You idiot" ... "You idiot" ... etc etc As you probably noticed in my log, I like to talk with me and myself ... See you arround- 4,151 replies

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
