Hi Peter
It makes perfect sense - long time no see - we must try and get together again
-
I now have a bit of an issue - I am ready to step the masts - Does anyone have an idea as to how I can get the riggibg lines tite - this model does not have dead eyes - it uses a turnbuckle system and the turnbuckles are not adjustable !!
-
What knot can I use to get my Standing Rigging tite ???
-
Now I have come to the time too start stepping the masts and instaling the yard arms - Is it best to put the sails on the yards before I put them on the masts or what suggestions has anyone got. This is the first time that I am putting sails on a model !

Hi Kip
Good to hear from you - This has been a busy summer for me - we must get together soon !!!

Hi Nils
Thank you for the kind words - I am quite satisfied with my build so far, this being only my second build !!

I have made a bit of progress - I have been working for the last 4 days, rigging yard arms - I now have them done as well as the bow sprit, now all i have to do is tie on the thread !
-
I will post again as I progress on the deck work.

I like it - I too am working on a Bluenose, but mine was a Billings kit, so I have my hands full, but I do have it looking not too bad !!! I will follow you with interest !!!
-
Looking very nice so far - if the rest looks as good as your start, you will have a very nice model !!! Keep up the good work !

Welcome Pops - looking forward to seeing the progress on your longboat. Any help you need, you will be able to get it rite here on MSW.
-
Thanks a lot Nils - I will try to find the figures in Canada.
-
Fabulous build - I know that I will be referencing your build a lot as I get along with my Gorch Fock. I hope mine turns out 1/4 as nice as yours. One question - were did you get the scale sailing figurines. I have been looking all over for them.
Thanks for the great build log !!!!

Looks great ! I have my hull looking pretty good after about 7 coats of paint and lots of sanding - My feelings about a steel hull ship is as long as the planking lines are not visible, it is ok to show a bit of imperfections in a hull as a full scale steel hull will have some waves in the steel sheets.
Keep up the good work

As you can see, I have my ship mounted on its display base. More photos to come soon I hope.
