    Hi, I’m Jeremy (Jez) and home is Bolton in the UK. This is my first and hopefully not my last posting on Model Ship World. I’ve been into model making, model engineering and general creative hobbies for many years but only just got into boat building with the recent completion of an Amati Aquarama - photo attached. Not averse to a challenge I am now undertaking a 1/100 scale model of the QM2 with very basic hull work started. I’d love to receive any advice, tips and comments along the way. I intend to combine traditional wood skills with 3d printing and laser cutting. The main issue so far is a lack of information, no plans and building from scratch. Should be an interesting build!

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
