  1. With her being a solid hull it requires a lot of carving and sanding. Seems to take forever to get the templates to fit. The step at the waist is challenging. Between getting the bulwarks straight inside to allow the Timberheads to be straight and the small size of the waist. Found it a little tough. Bulwark after all the sanding and shaping is supposed to be 1/32. Finished to allow the proper size main rail. I persevered and got it pretty close. Hull is ready for a final sanding.
  2. I don't know if I really like this solid hull. It's a lot of sanding, carving and shaping. It's coming together though. Starting to look like a ship. I think I would rather be planking.
  3. Received an email birthday present from my parents. This should be very helpful with the small pieces.

  4. Thank you. I am not sure about this solid hull so far. Wouldn't take much to go to far with no return.
  5. Ok I think I am ready to dive in. I have read the manual and had a good look at the plans. Templates cut wood strips and blocks sorted and labelled. I also made a kind of template for the station lines on a piece of masking tape. Simplifies the marks instead of all of the lines on the plans. Next step is to make a block to attach to the deck so I can put it in a vice. Which I just ordered from Amazon. Then start marking station lines, rabbet line and waterline.
  6. Templates cut now to mark the waterline, centerline, rabbet, rail line and the knuckle. Then sanding to fit.
  7. Pretty close to having the hull totally complete. Working on all the little things like belaying pins and cleats. So small.
  8. These belaying pins and all the small pieces are making me crossed eyed. Still getting stuff done though. In between installing little pieces, I am sanding and beveling the main and fore masts.
  9. Started painting the hull. Had a little trouble figuring out the water line. Turned out all right.
  10. Started painting the deck and deck parts. Thought I would start there before attempting the hull. Still trying to figure out how to properly mark the waterline.
