Michael,
Most rope in general use is right handed. When right handed ropes are laid up to make a larger rope, such as an anchor cable, the result is a left handed rope. Fibre rope shrouds were commonly (but not always) left handed.
If you are working at a small scale the lay of the rope may not be obvious, and the casual observer won't know the difference anyway. If you want to join the ranks of the obsessives (such as myself
), then buy the appropriate rope for the job.

Michael,
Just catching up after a long holiday to find that your rigging is progressing beautifully.
The Bristol Channel pilot cutters usually had a saddle on the span, but there are also old photos showing the use of a block, so take your pick.

Nice trunking, Danny.. It's hard to see from the camera perspective - does it go all the way up the the deckhead?

Try using an archive quality marker pen instead of paint.

Nice to see this one progressing as well, Popeye.
If you're going to start playing with blocks, try and find some really good quality timber - your blocks will be much easier to make and much stronger when you start rigging. If you can manage to lay your hands on an old boxwood folding carpenters rule; they make first class material for blocks.

What? You mean the hinges are dummies?
Great work, Danny!

Yes, Thanasis, beautiful work on the deck structures.

Kats,
Sounds like you may even need to find a new tea shop!

The placement of the pedestals is always very much "in the eye of the beholder", Tim, but personally I like your placement.
