Well, I only have a month of progress to go..so here it comes.... Apr 2 About two days to go to finish second planking Second planking moving along Apr 3 Second planking finished on starboard side of the hu;; Apr 4 Second planking of hull completed Apr 5 Last look at middle gun deck before upper gun deck is installed Hull sanded and keelson and stem post added Apr 7 Beginning to run second planking upwards Continuing planking upwards Apr 9 Upper gun deck and inner bulwark patterns added. This was my first thought that things were getting difficult. I kept my fingers crossed as I bent the upper deck horizontally to try and get it to fit over the bulheads. I was sure I was going to split it. I managed okay but did break a couple of tabs squeezing the deck into place. These were easily glued and as it turned out, one doesn't ever see this part of the deck when the inner gun patterns are in place. The inner gun patterns took a lot of sanding at the bottom to get the gun ports of the inner and outer paterns to match up. But I kept going and finally everything worked out. Thank goodness for my mini belt and disc sander Apr 10 Planking the upper gun deck

Hello David...Nice to hear from you. Yes, thank goodness, I finally understood what to do. It took a lot of prodding by several patient people and I'm on my way. I started to line the ports today and managed to get two finished. I believe this stage is the slowest part of the buildso far. I'm going to try and bring the log to where I am at this time. Have a great evening up in the North there. Jerry

Hi Jpett.. First of all, your photo did delete from my site. I have had no problem deleting photos; I don't believe that's a problem. I use my cell phone to take pics with and that has been working fine. I also have checked the properties of the photos and find most of them to be under 1mb. I suppose I could edit them and make them smaller and I will try that if I still have a problem. I would sure hate to start all over again. Thanks for all the time you have taken to help me. You're very nice and I appreciate it....Jerry

David..I checked my pic sizes; they average a little over 1 MB. I asked for help at the Captains Lounge so I'll see what happens. I'm afraid I may not be able to go further unless I start a second log. Hope I'm wrong. Jerry

David...Yep, I've been a busy boy. This log has taken a lot of my time today but I still managed to getteo coats of paint on Victory. If you check the text part of this log you'll seee that I received a notice saying that I have used more images than I'm allowed to. I'm stifled as I can't continue posting the pics under the dates as I have started. Any ideas? Jerry

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
