With the flash and with out the flash the pink ivory sticks out as my  favorite. Was drawn to it first with out know which was what.  Any of the woods would be a good choice...so it boils down to what "YOU" like in your model.

I remember bandsaws with a grinding wheel and welder built into the machine. But that was 50 years ago!!

I am in the maintenance department where I work and we have 2 of the bandsaws with the built in blade grinder/welder to make your own blades. Most of us never seem to get it right, usually takes 2 or 3 times to get one to hold. Finally convinced the management to start buying the blades in the correct size.  SO MUCH BETTER.... Unless you are expert at brazing and grinding wait to get a new blade. With out the proper tools it is a pain.

Heart wood seems to have a very nice reddish tint.  If you look over in Rusty's  (GREAT)   triton cross section around about here     http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/275-hms-triton-cross-section-by-rusty-148-completed/page-10   you can see how he used it in his build and what it looks like.  And here  http://modelshipworldforum.com/resources/materials_and_tools/Modelling_Woods.pdf  is a good list of woods in the MSW database  that is a good reference...looking forward to see how you choose.

Nice set....what did you use to make them out of.?  I have use old files in the past to make a chisel.

Looks good to me. i am sure in the original that they were also off just a little.  Planking goes along way to mask it.

Nice clean sharp edges on your groove. Did you shape it with a chisel by hand or did you make a profile scrapper.

It may be that the tension on the blades is too loose. or that you are feeding the material to fast for the blade type.

Not sure if this will help, just some things I found that was giving me problems.
