catopower got a reaction from GrandpaPhil in Found a model at IPMS show.
I agree with GrandpaPhil. Nice find!
This is a very rare kit. You are right that Aeropiccola has been out of business for a LONG TIME, and the kit is from an era of older kits that are harder to build into an "accurate" model. But, some of us have an appreciation for these old classic kits.
A friend of mine recently told me he is in possession of a USS Essex from Aeropiccola and wanted to know if I wanted to buy it. Unfortunately, I have more than enough kits to last the rest of my life. I need to get rid of some, I think!
Are you going to build the kit?

Will probably build after getting more experience.

No filler blocks required. There are 17 bulkheads with a space of around 13mm between each one. Skeletal assembly is rock solid and virtually impossible to have the banana keels of old.

You will not need any of that

I just realised I have to add blocks to the jig to fit in between the bulkheads. Otherwise the bulkheads won’t be able to slot all the way down.

Here’s a couple things I’ve made while waiting for the kit to arrive.
Crosscut jig, pre-bought ones are never as good.
And an adjustable jig to hold the false keel and keep it straight.

I’ll have to see when I get the kit. If they look too flat even with filing I’ll just buy some.

The kit supplies flat etched brass belaying pins. Personally, I'd prefer round pins.

Yes I would, even though I want it to be accurate, I’m going to focus more on making a good looking build. I don’t mean compromise accuracy, obviously I’ll try my best to have both worlds.

I suggest that if you haven't done it, open a build log for this model in the kit area. It is the best way to meet others and get help when needed.

Thank you all, I will try to translate my comments and questions, if there are manufacturers who are doing it now or we have already done it, I am open to any comment and stuff that could help me
Here is the support kit for the construction and I will place my keel to be able to align the pairs, to my question of the torque # 4, I put the laser and it confirms to me that it must be lowered to the maximum and sand it later if necessary, then sand the brown cut of the laser
Thanks

Hi so the story of the plans is this. I gave up trying to go to the museum to find them at mystic then it came to my attention that in our brooklyn boat group had a copy and our head of group Dan Pariser gave his copy to one of our group members and made me a photocopy. So these copies are the only available version of the plan I know that are able to be sourced and not even sure where and when Dan got it from.
