Thanks for the interest. I have posted a full set of pictures in response to a question last year http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/1139-hms-warrior/, however it might have been a good idea to point that fact out . If there is any specific part of the kit you want pictures of, let me know, I'm sure I will eventually find my camera that I put in a SAFE place on new years eve.

Hi Cap'n Jack, Good work on the first planking, just finishing the President myself. I've only done two models so far, but the advise I was given on here was, that the better the finish on your first layer, the easier and better your second planking would be. Will be keeping an eye on your progress. Cheers Stuart.

I've been meaning to start a build log for a while, but had a bit of an MSW1 meltdown with the camera. I started this build Nov 2012, as my second build (Thermopylae being the first). Both of these were intended to be training exercises to get me on to doing the Victory, but there are so many really good examples on here, I decided to do something different. So the Warrior is sat in the corner. So here she is, as was

The dead eyes and tackle blocks are wooden, however I have now discovered the cleats are plastic, and unusually the belaying pins are brass.
-
I'm pretty sure they are wooden, but I will check when I get home, and let you know.

I haven't opened all the bags to check each part, as I will probably lose them, but they all look good quality. The only plastic parts are the anchors and ships boats.

I agree the quality of the casting is the best I've seen. The wood strips seem pretty standard, apart from being much larger than what I've used before, but as I'm only on my second model, I don't have a lot of experience in the standards supplied. I've just finnished my first model, Thermopylae. Currently I'm on with the President and having fun with the second planking on the bow. As soon as I have completed her, I'll then start on the Warrior.

There looks to be a good set of plans, but the proof of the pudding will come during the build. The detailing on the forward and aft decks looks interesting. Surprising just how big 1.4M is really Hopefully that covers everything, but if there is anything else, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Regards, Stuart.

I've included a 12" rule to the pictures to give some idea of scale. I heard complaints before that there are too many plastic parts in Billings kits, but in this case this is all there is. The figurehead casting looks quality. The sword appears to be a separate part, as the base is cut, not snapped. The only tiding work, appears to be on the left hand shoulder. I haven't opened all of the bags, as I will not be starting immediately, have to finnish the President first. Yes there is a stand included More to follow.

The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
