  8. Gaetan, Bravo!!! I'm astonished even more with your work. When I think I've learned something, you show how far I'm from your skills. I thought I wasn´t a novice anymore but it seems I'm still in Kindergarten. Mauricio

  14. Hi Tom, I started the construction of Les Gros Ventre about an year and a half but I have not started my scratch build log yet. As I live in Brazil, I have to mill my own wood, and It takes time and money (a lot!) because I had to buy the machines for the job. They are all from PROXXON. I'm using a wood called Peroba Rosa, and I'm still building the frames. I hope we can share our experiences, although I'm not a expert. First of all, be careful about the lenght of the pieces "f" and "d". In plates 1 and 4 they are longer than in plates 8, 15 and 23 (which are the proper length). Regards Mauricio
  15. Gaetan, she's a little jewelry. The more I see your work, the more I admire. Bravo!!! Mauricio
  16. Hi Ed, It´s always a pleasure to see your work. Since Naiad posts and now with the Young Americas I've been learning a lot. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Mauricio
  17. Hi Gaetan, Fantastic!! A masterpiece. I think this is one of the most complicated part of the model. I hope I can inspire in your work when the time comes in my model. Mauricio
  18. Hello Karl, I'm speechless! Fantastic job! The details are amazing! As you have much more skills and experience, could you tell me if the FD150/E is enough to do all the tasks of wood ship modeling? Do you plan to turn masts with it? I’m asking this because I’m going to buy a lathe and I’m deciding between this and the PD 230/E.
  19. Gaetan, nice job as always! I liked this lightsphere. It highlights the details. Fantastic!!
  20. I have the same doubts as you. As I have the FF230 milling machine (which is very good) I’m leaning to PD 230. It is a matter of cost vs. benefit and of the reason you wish to buy a lathe (to turn cannons, capstans and small pieces or to turn masts). For turning masts the DB 250 is better than the others. The bed of the FD 150 is made of aluminum while in PD 230 it is made of cast iron (which gives you higher precision). Besides the distance between centers (230 mm x 150 mm) one thing that bothers me is the diameter of the internal bore of 8.5 mm in FD 150 (bad for larger masts) while in PD 230 it is 10.5 mm. Let me know about your choice. Mauricio
  21. Outstanding! Each image is a lesson. I am also among those awaiting a new book. Mauricio
