good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes, i will get back to you @popeye the sailor @Canute @Old Collingwood the great fence repair has taken me away from the build for the last few days, sorted for now, the rest can wait for warmer days the pretty strips are done both sides now and has all had another coat of varnish last night was spent making up one of the two mail pouches the previous night doing the trunk

good evening everyone most of the main coach body work is done now, a few pretty strips still to be added i may have to rethink the suspension straps, they are very springy and quite saggy the door hinges are on well the rebates are done (they will not be opening) i used a bit of tape to hold the drivers cab in position, the glue in the coach is to offset the front weight nothing is fixed yet

good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes the coach looked awful (in my eyes, so i decided to do something about it removed all door and widow frames and the top panelling between the windows, as that never looked right from day one, fine grade sandpaper and took the upper coats of varnish off, washed down and then a varnish 50/50 white spirit wash applied the door frames and windows are now fitted on one side

good evening everyone the chassis continues, a lot more banding has gone in, and whilst brass at present i may take it to black before completion the suspension was put back on and then had a bit of fun with the through braces, which were made from leather straps, the kits asks you yo make them from wooden strips, i went my own way and used face mask elastic strapping, and clamped them in place with brass strips, the height above the chassis may be to high but no weight on there yet the elastic was coloured using a Flory black wash

good evening everyone 4 wheels on my wagon (well not quite on but complete), tonight i made the outer wheel bandings the chassis which was stripped down yesterday, was primed and now has a new coat on, pin strips well complete it at present i am rebuilding it, looks better than before, but even further removed from what it should look like

before putting it away again i managed to get some more work done of the forecastle, at present i don't know when she will come back

good evening everyone i went back to the stagecoach this week, im finding it very hard to get into anything at present, last week it was building and painting a couple of dolls houses for the wife, circumstances in Europe, loosing my main ship build in Jan and storm damage to my property last week have certainly played a big part stagecoach i stripped the frame work down again and re-primed it and bought a decent yellow rattle can rather than brushing on acyrilics

good evening everyone work continues, i am still trying to get the wood to look like teak, perhaps i never will not the upper deck is the right colour it is starting to look right, but still so much to do, im hoping that most of it will be complete by middle of march, as i dont want to put her away uncomplete again (lol i must finish her)

i think there are two areas up there, i was racking me brains earlier, as to whether i ever went up there, i was always action planesman, so drove to boat in and out I also was normally required to dive the boat if at diving stations, (first dive after the procedure for opening up for diving is carried out through the submarine), there are two us us at the planes, a fore -planes man who controlled the rate of dive, and me on the after planes controlling the afterpains (ensuring the boat was kept fairly level) and steering. if at high speed the after planes did both as the dynamics of the boat render the fore-planes useless watch diving, however was carried by anyone on watch qualified to do so after an initial dive, and the boat was known to be in a good trim and flood free. i was then required to become a ship controller,( sat behind the planesmen controlling the trim and ballast of the boat, making the preps for periscope runs, being aware of the emergency procedures in all events etc etc, but whilst on my last ever patrol a friend of mine on another submarine witnessed two deaths at sea (all over the headlines at the time, and i knew my Chief Petty Officers pension was safe so i refused do the final test, and awaited my punishment BBC NEWS | England | Sub deaths caused by 'failures' sorry ranting on there

the old Polaris SSBN were about 8,000 tons the same more or less as the County class destroyers, Polaris (UK nuclear programme) - Wikipedia the trident are about 16,000, planned Dreadnaught will be about 19,000 the layout in Trident is quite strange ( messy) in the forward section as it has an extra deck level compared to the American designed Missile compartment personally i preferred the older Polaris class

in normal conditions, one officer and two look outs, entering and leaving port it could be the captain with 3 or four others mast were again dependant on conditions with scopes up for navigation, wt for contact might have radar and maybe an induction mast slightly raised, some hand rails were put up to help with health and safety, tiles they always looked ok going out after maintenance, but always came back with some missing, never looked black (but should be), always looked very dark grey, here she is in 2007 passing Helensburugh going out on patrol, with the other crew (my photo) not my photos
